About the Aroma

In the heart of Berlin Schöneberg – a whiff of “Bella Italia!” This is our Café Aroma. The atmosphere is informal jolly. Our concept is always to offer something special to the friends and connoisseurs of Italian cuisine and to impart the joy of Italian culture.

The Italian flair surrounds you already at our inviting bar. A meeting point for our guests, a place for conversations and making contacts.
We offer a cosy non-smoking for all those who enjoy a smoke free environment. In the Summertime we place tables in the shade of our trees covering our small piazza.

The Café Aroma is situated at the south end of the Yorck-bridges in a concealed corner of the „Rote Insel“ (Red Island) which is a former workmen’s quarter in Berlin-Schöneberg. The area is characterized by its Kiez character.
Stimmung

Whether you want to relax with a good glass of wine, enjoy a delicious dinner or exploit the Sunday brunch buffet – there are many reasons why a lot of our guests have returned for many years. Among our guests are many native Italians and of course Berliners who love the Mediterranean atmosphere.

Unser Team
"Kiez" is a unique expression from Berlin. It can be described as a special neighbourhoods feeling. The name “Rote Insel” originates at the turn of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century when communists and socialists had one of their strongholds in this district.

St. Matthäus-Kirchhof is the largest green space in this part of the City. The cemetery was created in 1856. It is well worth a visit the gravesites are one of the most beautiful of Berlin. Buried here are the brothers Grimm, the liberal Prussian businessman Hansemann and the feminist Minna Cauer.

Im Kiez
Next to the cemetery the only „high mountain road“ Berlins - the Hochkirchstraße - meanders from Großgörschenstraße up to Monumentenstraße. In the first bend of the road you can find our restaurant. Near by from the centre of the Monumenten-bridge you have a fantastic view to Potsdamer Platz, to the television tower at Alexanderplatz and Victoria Park in Kreuzberg.
